The media,  along with the police, have probably been the major beneficiaries of the Oka crisis. The events of summer 1990 may have even contributed towards promoting the projects of news channels such as RDI. Without a doubt, for 20 years, ‘Aboriginal’ issues, especially ‘the Mohawks’ issue, have become interesting subjects for media coverage. For some media, such as the Journal de Montreal, stories about Mohawks are "front page material".
