Deconstructing the myths about First Nations.

Toute l’histoire entre Norfolk, la Ville d’Oka et les Mohawks de Kanesatake aurait évidemment pu être évité si le gouvernement fédéral avait tenu ses promesses suite aux événements de 1990 qui était de régler le contentieux territorial sur les terres de la Seigneurie des Deux-Montagnes.

The Maori of New Zealand and the Canadian First Nations are much in the same situation. Just as First Nations in Canada, the Maori are natives who have suffered from Great Britain’s colonial policies, including those that have resulted in the theft of large areas of land.

I am a big fan of social networks, especially Facebook and Twitter. I use them frequently for business and am particularly impressed with the success of these two snapshot exchange tools and the opportunities they provide.

The media,  along with the police, have probably been the major beneficiaries of the Oka crisis. The events of summer 1990 may have even contributed towards promoting the projects of news channels such as RDI. Without a doubt, for 20 years, ‘Aboriginal’ issues, especially ‘the Mohawks’ issue, have become interesting subjects for media coverage. For some media, such as the Journal de Montreal, stories about Mohawks are "front page material".
